Hi, I'm Matthew Forrest

I am a multidisciplinary artist from Tallahassee, Florida. I primarily paint murals and canvases or other smaller mediums. Working under the pseudonym briteso, I examine the unspoken language of American life and culture through drawing, painting, and creating in physical and digital media. Emphasizing people, culture, and kitsch, my work attempts to balance order and chaos utilizing subject, color, composition, and abstraction to create bold, captivating visuals.

Ostensibly an alter ego, briteso is more like a state of mind than a person. Put simply, it’s about identifying and becoming the best version of myself. I am best known for my mural series, Desperados. These big, bright murals depict the colorful characters that have resided in his hometown of Tallahassee throughout the years in my signature style that blends pop and abstract realism.
